Website Terms and Conditions

Sort My Solar — Last updated: 9 August 2026

1. About us and these terms

These terms and conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of our website at www.sortmysolar.com (the “Website”) and the comparison and introduction service we provide through it (the “Service”). By using the Website or submitting a quote request, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Website.

You can contact us by email at info@sortmysolar.com.

2. What our Service is (and is not)

Sort My Solar is a solar comparison and introduction service. When you submit your details through our quote form, we match your requirements with solar installation companies on our panel (“Installers”) and pass your details to them so they can contact you.

It is important that you understand the following:

  • We are not a solar installer. We do not sell, supply, install, maintain or warrant solar panels, batteries or any related equipment or services.
  • We are an introducer only. Any quote, survey, contract, installation, warranty or aftercare is provided by the Installer, not by us.
  • If you choose to proceed with an Installer, your contract is directly with that Installer. We are not a party to that contract and have no responsibility for its performance.
  • We do not provide financial or technical solar advice. Any figures shown on the Website or provided by us (such as estimated savings, payback periods or system outputs) are illustrative estimates only and should not be relied upon as advice or a guarantee of performance.

3. Cost of the Service and how we make money

Our Service is completely free for you to use. You will never be charged by Sort My Solar for requesting or receiving quotes.

We are paid by the Installers on our panel, who pay us a fee upon completion of works. This is how we fund the Service. The fee paid by an Installer does not affect the price you are quoted, and Installers on our panel are not ranked or recommended based on the fees they pay us.

4. Our Installer panel

We take reasonable steps to check that Installers on our panel are genuine trading businesses before admitting them, including verifying that they hold MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) certification and carrying out general compliance checks.

However, we do not supervise, control or audit the day-to-day work of any Installer, and we cannot guarantee the accuracy of any quote, the quality of any installation, or that an Installer will perform its obligations to you. You should always carry out your own checks before entering into a contract, including verifying the Installer’s certifications, insurance, warranty terms and reviews.

Depending on your requirements and location, your details may be shared with a small number of Installers on our panel. We do not guarantee that any Installer will contact you or provide a quote, or that quotes will be the cheapest available in the market.

5. Your responsibilities

When using the Website and the Service, you agree that:

  • The information you submit (including your contact details and property information) is accurate, complete and up to date. Quotes are prepared on the basis of what you tell us, and inaccurate information may result in inaccurate quotes.
  • You are at least 18 years old and are requesting quotes for a property you own or are authorised to make enquiries about.
  • You are submitting a genuine enquiry on your own behalf and not for any commercial, data-harvesting or fraudulent purpose.

6. Consumer rights

Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer. If you enter into a contract with an Installer, you may have rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, including cooling-off and cancellation rights. These rights apply against the Installer as the party you contract with. For free advice about your consumer rights, you can contact Citizens Advice.

7. Our liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under English law.

Subject to the above:

  • We are not liable for any acts, omissions, quotes, advice, workmanship, products or services of any Installer, or for any loss or damage arising out of a contract between you and an Installer.
  • We are not liable for any estimates, projections or illustrative figures proving inaccurate, including estimated savings, energy generation or payback periods.
  • We provide the Website on an “as is” basis and do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, though we take reasonable steps to keep it so.
  • We are not liable for business losses. The Service is provided for private consumers; if you use it for commercial purposes, we have no liability to you for loss of profit, loss of business or business interruption.
  • As the Service is provided to you free of charge, our total liability to you in connection with the Service, however arising, is limited to the amount (if any) you have paid us for it.

8. Acceptable use of the Website

You must not misuse the Website. In particular, you must not:

  • Submit false, misleading or fraudulent enquiries, or enquiries on behalf of people who have not consented.
  • Use any automated means (including bots, scrapers or crawlers) to access, copy or extract data from the Website.
  • Introduce viruses or other malicious or technologically harmful material, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Website or its servers.
  • Copy, reproduce or resell any part of the Website or the Service without our written permission.

We may suspend or withdraw access to the Website, or decline to process an enquiry, where we reasonably believe these Terms have been breached.

9. Intellectual property

We are the owner or licensee of all intellectual property rights in the Website and its content, including the Sort My Solar name, logo, text, graphics and design. You may view, download and print content from the Website for your personal, non-commercial use only. No other use is permitted without our prior written consent.

10. Your personal data

We take your privacy seriously. Details of how we collect, use and share your personal data — including how your details are passed to Installers so they can contact you — are set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms and is available on the Website. Our use of cookies is explained in our Cookie Policy, also available on the Website.

11. Links to other websites

The Website may contain links to third-party websites, including Installers’ own websites. These links are provided for your convenience only. We have no control over, and accept no responsibility for, the content or practices of third-party websites.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may amend these Terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes in our Service or in the law. The version published on the Website at the time you use it is the version that applies to you. Please check this page periodically.

13. General

  • If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force.
  • If we do not enforce any right under these Terms, that does not mean we have waived it.
  • These Terms are between you and us. No other person has any rights to enforce them under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.
  • We may transfer our rights and obligations under these Terms to another organisation; we will tell you if this happens.

14. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.

15. Complaints

If you are unhappy with our Service, please contact us at info@sortmysolar.com and we will do our best to resolve the issue. Complaints about an Installer’s products or workmanship should be raised directly with the Installer in the first instance; however, we would still like to hear about your experience, as it helps us manage the quality of our panel. As Installers on our panel are MCS certified, you may also be able to escalate installation complaints through the MCS-linked consumer protection schemes, such as HIES or RECC.
